Inclement Weather Policy

Policy (Feb 12, 2021)

Your safety is a priority for us. We realize there are emergency situations caused by inclement weather. This policy update outlines how we will handle pay and notification of employees.

Because of the impending weather situation in our area the company is temporarily modifying its policy regarding inclement weather as stated in the company handbook.

If an emergency situation such as (but not limited to) extreme ice or snow prevents the company building from being open and available for employees to perform their jobs on the premises, the company will do its best to make sure employees continue to be paid their full salary.

All full-time exempt and non-exempt employees will receive pay for hours they were unable to work due to the buildings closure, up to a maximum of five days during the closure. After that time, even if the closure continues, employees are eligible to use accrued paid time off to cover lost wages. No overtime will be paid during this time. Employees will continue to receive health benefits and any other benefit that does not require a physical presence for eligibility.

Should inclement weather occur during the work day, leadership will make the determination regarding what time the business will close. All employees will be paid for their scheduled hours for the remainder of the day.

During all business closures, any employee who can work remotely is required to do so.

Upon determination that we will be closed due to an emergency situation, the facility website (www.1101AveG.com) will be updated at least one hour before the start of your shift.  Please feel free to also communicate with your manager if you have any questions or concerns.

Upon the company reopening, all employees are expected to return to work. For any employee who needs more time to tend to repairs or damage beyond the norm, our normal leave of absence policies will apply. In these cases, employees should stay in close communication with their manager to ensure the time off is considered properly.
